General Definition of Work:

The purpose of the General Services Worker/ Grounds is to maintain attractive grounds areas; take steps to protect against erosion; maintain grounds for various purposes, assemblies, recreational activities (ex. track, football, graduation, field day, etc.).  General Services Workers are to complete assignments in a safe, proper, and timely manner.

 

Qualifications

Must have experience in ground maintenance, landscaping, or athletic field and maintaining landscaped areas, irrigation systems, athletic fields, and related facilities; safely handling and applying herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers; inspecting grounds and equipment; responding to emergency situations; and complying with district health and safety policies. Ability to perform physically demanding work, operate maintenance equipment, safely transport tools and materials, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

 

Salary/Status

Maintenance 240 days/ 8 hours

Place of Work

The normal place of work is on the premises used by Rock Hill Schools. Rock Hill Schools reserves the right to require you to work at such other place(s) as it may reasonably require from time to time.

This position requires working outdoors in various weather conditions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in various working conditions and weather.  Employees will work near or with moving mechanical equipment and other grounds equipment. The employee may occasionally work with toxic or caustic chemicals which may include petroleum products, degreasers, and sprays.   The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints.   The noise level is usually moderate to high. Immediate attention to unexpected situations is expected.
