General Definition of Work

The Music Teacher plans and delivers engaging performing arts instruction for students in grades 4K–8, fostering creativity, self-expression, and a life-long appreciation for music. The teacher supports students’ musical development by integrating age-appropriate techniques, music history, and cross-curricular connections. The Music Teacher monitors student progress, activities, and learning outcomes, addressing individual student needs as appropriate. Additionally, the teacher maintains a safe, supportive, and effective learning environment and communicates regularly with students, parents, and administration regarding student progress, expectations, and goals.

 

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma required

Ability to multi-task and work under minimal supervision

Innovative, creative and self-motivated

Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

Experience working with elementary and middle school students preferred

Cooperative, able to work with supervising teachers and other staff members

Skill in interpersonal relations with pupils, parents, teachers, staff and the general public

Outstanding references from current and former supervisors

Satisfactory SLED (SC Law Enforcement Division) report

Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License or ability to provide own transportation

Pre-Onboarding Requirements

As a condition of employment and prior to onboarding, the district will conduct a criminal history

background check. The recommended candidate will be required to provide personal information necessary to complete the background check such as date of birth, gender, and race to remain in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
