Salary Range:        Teacher Salary Schedule

 

Length of Contract:     190 days

  

Starting Date:          2025-2026 School Year

JOB DESCRIPTION      

 

 

TITLE 1 ACADEMIC INTERVENTIONIST

 

Purpose Statement:

The job of a Title 1 Academic Interventionist is done for the purpose/s of improving teacher knowledge and supporting students' success in basic academics (e.g. reading, writing, and/or math) and social and emotional learning needs by supporting teachers with district-approved curriculum; modeling the necessary skills for teachers to perform assignments; providing parents and administration information regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc. 

 

This job reports to the Principal. 

 

Essential Functions  

  • Collaborate with school personnel, parents, and various community agencies for the purpose of improving the quality of student outcomes, developing solutions, and planning curriculum.
  • Evaluate students' abilities in basic academics for the purpose of assisting in the diagnosis of learning disorders, developing remediation plans and/or evaluating student progress.
  • Instruct students for the purpose of improving their success in academics through a defined course of study.
  • Provide support to teachers for the management of student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment.
  • Participate in a variety of meetings for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to support teachers for student success.
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
  • Reports incidents (e.g., child abuse, suspected substance abuse, etc.) to maintain students' personal safety, provide a positive learning environment, and adhere to Education Code, and administrative and/or school policies.
  • Support classroom teachers and other school personnel for the purpose of assisting them in the implementation of goals for individual students.
  • Provide teacher support for effective remediation of academic needs.
  • Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds.
  • Model strategies for teachers for success in motivating students who have had limited success.
  • Facilitate effective communication with staff and parents regarding students’ academic, social, and emotional learning needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications

 

 

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

 

SKILLS are required to perform multiple, highly complex, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adhering to safety practices.

 

KNOWLEDGE is required to utilize theoretical mathematical concepts; review and interpret highly technical information, write technical materials, and/or speak persuasively to implement desired actions; and solve practical problems.  Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes: stages of child development, age appropriate activities concepts of grammar and punctuation.

 

ABILITY is required to schedule activities and/or meetings; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using defined methods.  Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with similar types of data; and utilize specific, job-related equipment. In working with others, independent problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data may require independent interpretation; and problem solving with equipment is limited.  Specific abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: setting priorities, yet working with frequent interruptions, as part of a team, communicating with diverse groups and establishing effective relationships.

 

Responsibility

Responsibilities include: working independently under broad organizational policies to achieve organizational objectives; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; and operating within a defined budget.  Utilization of some resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to have some impact on the Organization’s services.

 

Working Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity.  Generally the job requires 10% sitting, 30% walking, and 60% standing.  This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.

 

Experience       

Job related experience within specialized field with increasing levels of responsibility is required. 

 

Education         

Bachelors degree in job related area.
