Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher and an add-on endorsement for literacy coach or literacy specialist; or Bachelor’s degree or higher and is actively pursuing the literacy coach or literacy specialist endorsement by attending the SCDE Read to Succeed Coach Training or an alternative coach program that has been approved by the SCDE; or Master’s degree or higher in reading or a closely-related field and is actively pursuing the literacy coach or literacy specialist endorsement by attending the SCDE Read to Succeed Coach Training or an alternative coach program that has been approved by the SCDE
SC certification in Early Childhood or Elementary and Literacy Coach Endorsement (or currently pursuing it)
with a strong GPA in relevant course work
A minimum of three years of experience as a teacher; experience training and coaching adults preferred
Knowledge of best practices in teaching reading to elementary students and demonstrated ability to improve students’ performance
Ability to coach and mentor teachers in teaching reading through modeling and other strategies
Ability to communicate and work with students, parents, teachers, principals, superintendents, and school board members
Ability to analyze data and train teachers to use data to determine instructional needs of students, specifically
in the area of reading
Ability to be an energetic, flexible, professional, and a creative problem solver
Interest in learning, being self-reflective, collaborating with others and sharing credit for successes
Skill in interpersonal relations with pupils, parents, teachers, staff and the general public
Excellent leadership and organizational skills
Outstanding references from current and former supervisors/principals
Satisfactory SLED (SC Law Enforcement Division) report
Salary Range: Teacher Salary Schedule
Length of Contract: 190 days
Starting Date: 2024-2025 School Year
